five-a-side Charity Tournament
Droitwich Team brings home the Trophy
A local firm of chartered accountants has opened the soccer season with an outright win in a hard-fought 5-a-side charity Tournament, which helped raise £1,800 for the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance service.
Ormerod Rutter's winning team
The Droitwich based Ormerod Rutter team found their fitness levels pushed to the limits on facing stiff competition from sides with a younger average age group. But experience and teamwork, honed on years of successful business management, won through in the end.
Undefeated throughout and having only conceded four goals, the ‘Ormerod Rutter Brazilian Football Stars’ went on to take the Tournament trophy with a resounding 6-1 win over ‘The Boys’ in the final. Ormerod Rutter Player of the Tournament was Doug ‘The Rock’ Marshall and the ‘Golden Boot’ was awarded to Gaz Evans who succeeded in scoring a record 15 goals.
Organised by restoration and cleaning specialists Rainbow International, one of the accounting firm’s top clients, the Tournament was held at the Stratford Town Football Club in Tiddington and drew tremendous support from the local area.
