Peter Ormerod FCA

Peter founded the Practice in 1983.
He has gained considerable experience and expertise in all financial matters which greatly assists clients when dealing with their business affairs.

Peter is a true general practitioner who is very approachable and understanding of clients' financial requirements. He has the ability to identify key issues and then drive the consequential financial plan to conclusion.This aptitude installs confidence in, and forms a strong working relationship with, clients who understand their business affairs are being dealt with in a professional and proficient manner.

Garry Rutter FCA

After qualifying with a top five firm in the early 1980's, Garry spent six years as Group Accountant and Financial Controller with two large manufacturing companies.  He joined the practice in 1987 and has been a part of the growth since that time. 

Garry deals with businesses both small and large and maintains a hands on approach to client affairs.  For those with international connections, he speaks French and German.

Colm McGrory FCA

Colm qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992 and subsequently worked in industry in  a senior commercial role within a large retailing group before joining the Practice in 1998.

Colm has over 10 years experience of assisting clients commercially with tax advice. His strength is in fully understanding the wider business and commercial implications of his clients choices in business. He likes to build a trusting relationship with his client which allows him to deliver his knowledge and experience on many aspects of business.

His spirited personality is also a key character strength that allows him to see what is really important and keeping his client’s focused.

Nicky Ormerod FCA CTA

Nicky qualified in 1990 as a Chartered Accountant with a large city centre accountancy firm in Birmingham. Before joining the practice in 1993 she became a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

Her experience of tax and business matters in client businesses is wide ranging and she has developed the management consulting service in the Practice.

Mike Andrews 

Mike specialises in dealing with sole traders, partnerships and small to medium sized owner-managed companies.  Mike joined the Practice in 1987 and has a wealth of experience in dealing with all the issues and problems that growing businesses face from day to day.  Mike can also assist clients who are interested in exploring the use of limited companies and will advise on making the most of the advantages and avoiding the pitfalls of business incorporations.

Julian Dyer

Julian joined the Practice in 1989 and it was his enthusiasm to build-up a client base in Bromsgrove, together with his extensive local knowledge which ensured the opening of the Bromsgrove Office in 2001 where Julian is based.

Julian has vast experience in supporting sole traders, partnerships and small to medium sized owner-managed companies whilst acting for a wide variety of businesses locally he also has clients from further a field.

Tony Archer

Tony has worked in practice for over 22 years, having gained experience from several practices in the Midlands before joining Ormerod Rutter.  He specialises in supporting small to large limited companies. 

Tony has created and now manages our specialist department for property management companies, relating to service charge funds.

Peter Orton

Peter has gained experience over the past 25 years in most aspects of taxation planning for individuals to large multinational corporations.  He has a wealth of knowledge of group reorganisations both within the UK and Internationally.

He was a senior taxation specialist in a top ten firm of accountants and ran his own specialist tax practice for a number of years providing tax advice to firms of accountants and solicitors.

In Ormerod Rutter, as Corporate Finance specialist, he provides assistance to companies and individuals regarding raising finance and structuring company sales and aquisitions including MBO's.

Peter is available to provide advice to individuals, companies and other professional firms.

David Devonshire CTA

David has specialised in taxation for over 25 years, having originally trained as an accountant.  He is a Chartered Tax Advisor and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. 

David’s role within the practice is as Head of Taxation Services, responsible for the running of our significant in-house tax department. 

He looks after our major high net worth personal tax clients and provides specialist tax advice to clients and those outside the practice on all aspects of personal taxation, in particular Inheritance Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Use of Trusts and Share Schemes.

Andy Hunt FCA CTA

Andy qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1993 before joining Ormerod Rutter in 1995 as an audit manager, gaining extensive experience of our large limited company client base.

After qualifying as a Chartered Tax Advisor in 2005, Andy became the senior corporate tax manager specialising in the taxation of group companies, UK subsidiaries of international groups and specialist entities such as financial services companies and pension schemes. He also specialises in corporate tax planning, including company purchase of own shares, group reconstructions and research and development claims.

In addition to the above, Andy has been instrumental in setting up the corporate finance side of the business, working closely with Peter Orton.

Keith Zambra

Associate of the Institute of Indirect Taxation.
Keith joined HM Customs and Excise in 1973 as an Executive Officer and was subsequently promoted to Senior Officer. After eight years at Droitwich VAT office as a visiting officer responsible for large trader control he left to start his own private VAT consultancy practice.

In private practice Keith provided support to a number of accountants and solicitors based in the Midlands, dealing with a wide range of VAT issues such as land and property, partial exemption, special schemes, VAT planning, EU, VAT health checks and appeals.

In 2009, after 22 years of providing independent VAT consultancy, Keith was asked to bring his business, Vatcon Limited, into the growing practise of Ormerod Rutter Chartered Accounts in order to grow a department within the organisation to provide for the expanding VAT needs of local and national businesses served by the practice.

Our consultants

Over the years the business has grown and we are proud to have a number of consultants who specialise in all areas of the accountancy business including investments, and planning for all sizes of companies. Many of our consultants have worked for HMRC, with insider knowledge of what it takes to survive a visit from the Revenue or the VAT inspector!

Our offices

The business has expanded and we moved into a purpose built head office in Droitwich, in 1994, just outside the main town, on the Kidderminster Road. We call this office, 'The Oakley'.

To expand the practice further we opened the Bromsgrove office in October 2001. Whilst serving the Bromsgrove and surrounding area, this office offers exactly the same wide range of services as The Oakley.

In 2005 we relocated our bureau services, into their own premises in the centre of Droitwich, and called this Ormerod Rutter Solutions.

We opened a fourth office outside Droitwich on Roman Way just off the A38. This is now our small business unit.  Alex Dyer manages this office.
